(FWA 2025/11/11)The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) recently detected excessive levels of the pesticide metabolite “Fipronil-sulfone” in eggs. Approximately 150,000 pesticide-contaminated eggs have entered 9 counties and cities, including Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Taichung City, Yunlin County, Nantou County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Tainan City, and Kaohsiung City, and are being recalled by local health bureaus.
The TFDA urges consumers to stop using the aforementioned eggs and requests that all retailers provide full return and refund services. The TFDA also posted on Facebook to inform the public how to identify and handle the eggs:
- Check Identification: Look at the traceability code printed on the eggs.
- Line 1: (Farm/Washing Facility) I47045
- Line 2: (Packing Date/Production) 251023C, 251027C, 251030C, 251103C
- Do Not Consume eggs with the relevant traceability codes.
- Refund/Recall: Consumers who purchased eggs with these codes should return them to the original store for a refund.
