The number of migrant workers in Taiwan continues to hit a new high! According to statistics from the Ministry of Labor, the total number of migrant workers at the end of 2024 exceeded 820,000, an increase of 66,653 from the end of 2023, including 508,435 industrial workers and 214,514 social welfare workers. As the general construction industry was gradually introduced after the opening up, the number of workers increased significantly. In terms of nationality, Indonesia has the largest number of 302,920 people, followed by Vietnamese with 283,584 people, Filipinos and Thais with 160,596 and 72,981 respectively.
The total number of foreign migrant workers in Taiwan is more than 820,000. Excluding the more than 95,000 people whose whereabouts are unknown and those who have entered the country but have not completed their employment, the actual number of employed people is 722,949, of which the vast majority are engaged in industrial work, accounting for 70.33%, and social welfare migrant workers account for 29.67%.
各業大缺工 113年底移工突破82萬人
移工在臺人數續創新高!勞動部統計,113年底移工總人數突破82萬人,較112年底 增加6萬6,653人,其中產業類50萬8,435人,社福類21萬4,514人,隨著一般營造業開放後陸續完成引進,人數成長顯著。按國籍別來看,以印尼籍30萬2,920人最多,其次為越南籍28萬3,584人,菲律賓、泰國籍則分別有16萬596人、7萬2,981人。
外籍移工在臺總人數82萬多人,扣除行蹤不明的9萬5千餘人以及已入境但尚未完成聘僱者,實際受僱人數為72萬2,949人,其中絕大多數從事產業類工作,佔70.33%,社福移工則佔29.67%。
