(FWA 2026/9/29)The “Autumn Equinox” marks the turning point from hot to cool weather. Just after the Mid-Autumn Festival, the season has officially entered autumn. Wang Chiu-tung, Commissioner of the Department of Labor, Taipei City Government, reminds migrant workers from tropical Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines to pay extra attention to temperature changes, given Taiwan’s different climate and lifestyle. If you feel unwell, seek medical attention early and get adequate rest. The Taipei City Labor Reconstruction and Employment Office welcomes friends to gather at the first-floor lobby of Taipei Main Station to participate in the “Free Health Care Event for Migrant Workers,” offering a Free Health Check-up for Migrant Workers, held from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to jointly safeguard your physical and mental health.
Commissioner Wang Chiu-tung stated that the migrant worker health care event has been held for over 20 years. Over the years, the Tzu Chi International Medical Association has recruited medical professionals as volunteers to provide health consultations and general physical examinations. The services cover dentistry, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), internal medicine, gynecology, orthopedics, psychiatry, traditional Chinese medicine, and occupational medicine, benefiting over 20,000 people to date. The event held from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM on October 4 is the final session this year. Migrant workers are welcome to seize this opportunity. The Commissioner also urges local employers and brokers to encourage and remind migrant workers to participate and maintain their well-being.

Director Chen Kun-hung of the Reconstruction Office pointed out that to ensure the quality of consultations in each department, there are limited quotas for on-site examinations. If migrant workers have specific health check-up needs, it is recommended to arrive early to line up. In recent years, it has been observed that the number of registrations for ophthalmology and optometry has been gradually increasing. This may be related to migrant workers’ prolonged use of 3C products to contact distant relatives and friends or for leisure and entertainment. To protect the “windows to the soul,” promoting vision health education has become a key focus of the event.
In addition to health and hygiene care services, the event site also features information on living in Taiwan, as well as awareness campaigns on anti-fraud, anti-drug, and HIV prevention. Migrant workers only need to bring an identification document proving their legal residence status in Taiwan (such as an ARC) to register directly and participate for free. The first 40 participants to complete the event activities will also receive a convenience store gift certificate while supplies last!
