(FWA 2026/9/24) Coinciding with the 3-day National Day long weekend in 2026, considering that the public still needs to dispose of garbage during the holiday, the New Taipei City Environmental Protection Department (EPA) will maintain its convenient garbage truck collection schedule. Except for Sunday, October 11, which is a regular day off, garbage collection services will be provided as usual on all other days of the long weekend.

The EPA stated that during the regular Sunday day off, if the public still needs to dispose of garbage, they can make use of the 22 designated collection points across the city. Detailed opening hours and addresses can be found on the “New Taipei Trash Truck” website (https://crd-rubbish.epd.ntpc.gov.tw/). The EPA reminded the public to use designated garbage bags for general waste and to drop them off during the specified opening hours. To maintain cleanliness around the collection points, the EPA has set up mobile surveillance cameras and dispatched personnel for inspections. Anyone found illegally dumping garbage or failing to sort it properly during non-opening hours could face a fine of up to NT$100,000.

The EPA specifically urges the public to properly separate their waste into three major categories: “General Garbage,” “Food Waste,” and “Recyclables.” Please do not mix food waste or recyclables into the designated garbage bags and throw them into the garbage truck.

Additionally, dangerous items such as gas canisters and high-pressure spray bottles must be completely emptied before being handed over to the recycling truck. It is strictly prohibited to throw them directly into the garbage truck to avoid friction and sparks from the machine that could cause explosions, ensuring the safety of frontline cleaning staff and the public. Moreover, barbecue bamboo skewers should be broken and wrapped securely to prevent injuries. Used charcoal must be thoroughly extinguished with water and completely cooled down before being placed in a designated garbage bag. For detailed disposal methods of various items, please visit the “Recyclable Items Easy Search” website (https://recycle.ntpc.gov.tw/Article/Index/category16).
