On February 11, the Ministry of Environment held a consultation meeting on opening up eligibility for migrant worker applications in the waste recycling and processing industries. The Recycling Administration explained that in addition to legally completing registration or obtaining permits, the three newly approved categories of businesses must submit plans to prevent migrant workers from absconding. The allocation ratio for migrant workers is set at 20%, and the legislative process is expected to be completed by the end of March.
Regarding concerns from businesses that small-scale companies may not be able to hire migrant workers or face difficulties in worker allocation, the Ministry of Labor clarified the allocation calculation methods and stated that they would also consider regulations regarding worker transfers.
