(FWA 2025/12/17)Regarding media reports of a Japanese traveler scammed into paying a US$50 “processing fee”, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) reiterated that the Border Affairs Corps regularly verifies the accuracy of all “Taiwan Arrival Card” (TWAC) QR codes at airports. A comprehensive check was conducted again on the 16th, and no fraudulent flags, QR codes, or paid websites mentioned by the media were found.
The NIA warns that while airport information is safe, travelers searching online on their own may be redirected to fraudulent websites. The agency emphasizes that since October 1 of this year, the officially promoted online “Taiwan Arrival Card” (TWAC) is completely free of charge and should be submitted within three days prior to arrival. Travelers should verify the correct URL: https://twac.immigration.gov.tw/.
If travelers have any information to provide or inquiries, they may contact the NIA’s Border Affairs Corps (Email: [email protected]).
