(FWA 2025/11/12) The storm circle of Typhoon Fung-wong has made landfall in Taiwan. The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) reminds the public not to rashly enter announced warning zones, as violators face fines of up to NT$250,000.

According to the Central Weather Administration’s forecast, due to Typhoon Fung-wong, strong winds (average level 6+ or gusts 8+) are likely in the western half of Taiwan, the Yilan coast, and outlying islands. The Kaohsiung-Pintung coast and Penghu have a high chance of experiencing even stronger winds (average 9+ or gusts 11+). Coastal wave heights may reach 3 to 5 meters, with waves in the southern and Penghu seas potentially reaching 6 meters or more. Long waves (swells) are likely. Please avoid all seaside activities.

The CGA is conducting “gentle persuasion” at hotspots where people often gather (such as for fishing or wave-watching). If local city or county governments officially designate warning zones, coastal and harbor expulsions will be strengthened. If individuals are found violating and entering these zones, a citation will be issued according to the Disaster Prevention and Response Act, and the case will be sent to the local government for fines ranging from NT$50,000 to NT$250,000.

The CGA urges: During natural disasters like typhoons, please cooperate with local government disaster avoidance measures. Do not rashly enter announced warning zones. Let’s jointly protect coastal safety and reduce disaster risk. For any emergency assistance at sea or on the coast, please dial the CGA’s free service hotline “118” immediately.
