•Do not abandon pets, do not approach or try to capture wild animals
•Do not feed wild animals
•Ensure pet dogs and cats receive regular rabies vaccinations
If you are accidentally scratched or bitten by an animal take the following measures
•Wash the wound with soap and clean water for a minimum of 15 minutes
•Disinfect the wound with alcohol or Povidone-iodine
•Seek immediate medical attention to determine whether vaccination is necessary
