Passengers can be fined for being in a vehicle with a drunk driver

Did you know? If a motorist is caught driving under the influence, passengers in the vehicle can also be fined.

According to regulations:

•If a driver’s breath alcohol concentration is 0.25 mg/L or higher

•And a passenger is 18 years old or older

The passenger can be fined NT$6,000 to NT$15,000 for being in the vehicle

In addition, if the owner of a vehicle knowingly lends the vehicle to someone they know is intoxicated, he/she can also be fined

Remember :

•Don’t drink and drive

•Do not get into a vehicle driven by someone who is intoxicated

•Use a driver-for-hire service or a designated driver
