When you come to Taiwan to work, your passport and ARC are important personal documents that employers or labor brokerages cannot keep without consent.
If you are applying for or renewing an ARC, the labor brokerage can temporarily hold such documents on your behalf. However, once the process is completed, the documents must be returned.
Remember:
•Always keep the original copies of your passport and ARC yourself
•Do not accept photocopies.
•If your documents have been withheld, call the 1955 Hotline and ask for assistance.
Remember to apply for an extension before your ARC expires to avoid penalties for overstaying
