Think twice before lending your vehicle to someone else, because in the event of a traffic violation the ticket is first sent to the owner of the vehicle.

There are two main types of traffic violation fines:

•On-the-spot fines : The police stop the driver at the sceneand directly issue a fine

•Mailed fines : Violations are recorded by surveillance cameras or speed cameras, but generally only the license plate is recorded and the fine is sent to the owner of the vehicle

Before lending your vehicle first:

•Determine whether the individual has a valid driver’s license

•Keep a copy of their driving license or a record of when the vehicle was loaned

If the individual borrowing the vehicle does not have a driving license or is involved in an accident, the vehicle owner may be subject to joint liability.
