Recently a new type of scam has appeared where scammers pretend to hold online votes for art works by children, cutest pet, or lucky draw events. These provide unknown links that ask users to log into their LINE accounts, requesting the bonded phone number, SMS verification code, or password. Once this information has been obtained, they hijack the LINE account and ask friends and family for money.
In any of the following situations your account may have been hacked:
•Unable to log in and forcibly logged out even without duplicate registration
•The account sends unauthorized messages to friends
This behavior involves criminal fraud and offenses against computer security. Evidence can be submitted to the police when filing a report
The key to preventing scams is to remain vigilant. Never click on links or provide verification codes to someone else
