Three steps for disposing of medicine properly

How should you deal with unused medicine? Do not flush it down the toilet or pour it into the sink

There are three simple steps to dispose of medicine safely:

Special medication (injectables, anti-cancer drugs, antibiotics, and controlled medication) : should be returned to the prescribing hospital or pharmacy

General medication (tablets/capsules) : should be thrown directly into a garbage bag and dealt with like standard waste

Liquid medication (such as syrup or anti pyretics) :

1. Place an absorbent substance (tea leaves, coffee grounds or toilet paper) into a Ziploc bag or plastic bag.

2. Pour in the liquid medication and seal it

3. Throw the bag into the garbage and recycle the original container in accordance with regulations
