(FWA 2025/11/06)Tropical Depression “TD29” intensified into this year’s 26th typhoon, “Fung-wong,” at 2 AM on the 6th. It is predicted to move west-northwest towards Luzon, Philippines. It is expected to be closest to Taiwan from next Tuesday (11/11) to Wednesday (11/12). The typhoon‘s outer bands may interact with the northeast monsoon, potentially increasing rainfall on windward sides.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated on the evening of the 5th that there are two tropical systems in East Asia. Typhoon “Kalmaegi” will gradually move west into the Indochinese Peninsula and will not directly affect Taiwan’s weather. The system near Guam (now Typhoon Fung-wong) is expected to gradually strengthen and approach Taiwan from next Monday to Wednesday, affecting local weather.
The CWA indicated that the northeast monsoon is expected to strengthen from this Sunday (11/9) night to next Monday (11/10), causing temperatures in northern Taiwan and Yilan to drop slightly, with increased moisture and rain on windward sides.
Next Tuesday to Wednesday will be when the typhoon is closest to Taiwan. Due to the influence of the northeast monsoon and the typhoon or its outer bands, northern, eastern, and southern regions have a probability of showers, heavy rain, or localized torrential rain. Other regions may also experience localized brief showers.
