Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning depend on length of exposure and concentration
Minor carbon monoxide poisoning can cause:
•Headaches
•Weakness
•Tiredness
•Upset stomach
•Vomiting
Severe carbon monoxide poisoning can cause:
•Flushed face
•Rapid pulse
•Loss of consciousness
•Death or a persistent vegetative state
If you find something is wrong, be vigilant and follow the following steps:
1.Open a window so the carbon monoxide can disperse and leave the room/space
2.Turn off the gas pipe or the burning utensil
3.Call 119 so anyone uffering from carbon monoxide poisoning can be taken to the emergency room. If you require interpretation services call the 1955 Hotline
4.Before emergency service personnel arrive on the scene move anyone poisoned by carbon monoxide to a ventilated area and loosen their clothing, while ensuring the surrounding environment is safe and secure
5.If an individual poisoned by carbon monoxide stops breathing or their heart stops beating, administer CPR. Take advantage of the golden hour for treatment and ensure the individual reaches a hospital as soon as possible
