(FWA 2025/11/11)The storm radius of the 26th typhoon of the year, Fung-wong, is gradually entering the seas near southern Taiwan. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a land typhoon warning at 5:30 AM today. The current land alert areas include Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula.

According to the CWA’s 8:30 AM bulletin, Typhoon Fung-wong was centered at 19.6°N, 118.4°E at 8:00 AM on the 11th, located about 360 km southwest of Eluanbi. It is moving north-northeast and then northeast at a speed of 12 km/h.

The typhoon has slightly weakened and its storm radius has shrunk over the past 3 hours. Its center is currently in the sea southwest of Eluanbi, moving north-northeast. The storm radius is gradually entering the seas near southern Taiwan, posing a threat to Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula. It is expected that this typhoon will continue to weaken and its storm radius will tend to shrink.

Land warning areas, including Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula, should be on high alert. Vessels operating in the Taiwan Strait, the southeastern waters of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, and the waters near the Dongsha Islands should take strict precautions.

The CWA advises that from today (11th) to tomorrow (12th), coastal areas around Taiwan will experience high waves of 3 to 5 meters and long swells. In particular, the southeastern (including Lanyu, Green Island), southern, and Hengchun Peninsula coasts, as well as Penghu, will see waves of 5 to 6 meters or more. Please avoid coastal activities.

Outdoor hanging objects, signboards, fences, and scaffolding should be firmly secured. Potted plants on balconies should be properly stowed.

Today, Taoyuan City, Yilan County, Hualien County, and Penghu County have canceled work and classes. Some areas in Taipei and New Taipei (Shuangbei) have also canceled work and classes.
